Welcome, I’m Gary.
Making disciples is my calling and one key aspect of that is teaching you to study the Word of God on your own. I want you to study your own Bible better! God uses His Word to transform and mature each believer, and then sends them out to love others and to share this transforming gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus!
I grew up Jewish in New York City, but I became Christian at the age of 27 on the 680 freeway in the Bay Area.
At the time, my life was not moving in the direction I wanted. In fact, it was crumbling at my feet. My goals were self-centered, and I came close to losing everything I loved and held dear. A few weeks earlier, a friend (in God’s perfect timing) asked if I would repent of my sins, totally trust Jesus for my whole life, and allow Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I wasn’t ready. But a few weeks later (September 25th, 1981, to be precise), I was driving to teach a class at 6:30am and God grabbed a hold of me.
I pulled over to the side of the highway, wept, and fully repented of my sins. I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. It had been overcast that whole morning, but right where my car was parked, the clouds opened up and the sun shone directly on me. I will never forget that experience. With an assurance of eternal life and by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit, my life immediately changed.
I couldn’t get enough of the Bible. I began to attend Bible studies, to memorize scripture and to regularly hold Bible studies in my home, and within weeks of my conversion my wife also turned her life over to Christ. God revealed to me early on that my life goal was to make disciplers as Jesus did — people who can disciple others. By God’s grace, through the power of the Holy Spirit and with an emphasis on treasuring Jesus, I strive to help people know and obey the glorious Word of God. After over 30 years of hosting Bible studies in my home, preaching and teaching in my church, participating in many Bible based ministries and conferences and heading up a K-12 Private Christian School where I was the Principal and daily Bible teacher, I have been led to the creation of this tool, Let The Word Teach. I have personally used this Bible study method with people of all ages (Elementary school to nonegenarians) and I’m convinced that through its use, God has blessed many lives. My prayer is that your life and others you share this with, will be greatly blessed as well. I hope you’ll dig in, pray and proclaim with me… “Let The Word Teach!” Then bless others!
